The health care ruling and why it impacts you!

Whether you are a democrat or republican, insured or uninsured, the recent health care ruling will impact you.

By a 5 to 4 decision, Chief Justice John Roberts read the long-awaited opinion, stating the entire bill could be upheld under a taxing clause but not under the commerce law.  The commerce law regulates business from state to state, however, since the penalty is paid to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the law was upheld under the taxing clause.  Continue reading

Unclaimed Property! Does your state have cash for you?

Each year businesses and other entities turn over millions of assets to the State’s Treasury Department as unclaimed property. These assets include stocks, bonds, paychecks, insurance benefits, utility deposits and much, much more. If a business is unsuccessful in contacting the owner of such accounts, the law requires the holder to remit the proceeds after a certain period of time, usually referred to as the holding period.
